This week Nintendo announced the Nintendo DSi, an upgrade to the Nintendo DS which includes a camera and bigger screen. Now internet is whispering about an upgraded Nintendo Wii due out in 2011 or 2010. Nintendo is developing a high-definition model of its Wii console, which has sold more than 30 million units globally.
Though no official announcement has been made, it is of course very natural for Nintendo to step up the graphics power of the Wii in the next generation of the hyper successful console. The Wii HD is also rumored to feature a high-capacity hard drive for the storage and streaming.
The Wii HD is supposed to be able to handle digital content – a function that the Xbox 360 and the PS3 do today and for sure even more important in 2011 than today. Don’t expect any announcement
soon, however – with the Wii still enjoying phenomenal success, it would be unlikely that Nintendo would want to spoil the party time.
