Sony’s new PSP-3000 model is certainly off to a good start in Japan, with first-week sales of 141,270 units. Its one of the immense acheivement of Sony in Japan.
Despite the release of the updated model — the PSP-3000 includes a brighter LCD screen and built-in microphone — older models still managed to move 14,450 units. According to an early report by Famitsu publisher Enterbrain, the PSP sold 155,720 units over the week covering 10/13 to 10/19.
Currently the total sales of the PSP in Japan are now at 10,357,481. This immense sale likely to put PSP in number one selling game console in Japan. PSP is still Japan’s number one selling so far this year, recent weeks have seen it place below the DS and even the Wii, likely due to potential buyers waiting for the new model.
