As we all know, HD-DVD has finally lost the HD format war. That essentially left thousands of consumers with a device that will soon become obsolete as the industry chooses to distribute movies on Blu-ray discs. For all those who had bought a HD DVD player, there’s good news coming as major retailers are now offering some consolidations for you.

Last month, Best Buy said that they were awarding $50 to customers who purchased HD-DVD players. Wal-Mart followed saying that it is extending its return policy from 90 days to six months on HD-DVD players. Meanwhile, Amazon is offering consumers who purchased an HD-DVD player before Feb. 23 a little consolation by giving out a $50 coupon good for anything Amazon sells.

*Feb. 23 was when Toshiba announced it would stop making HD-DVD players.
