Satellite Navigation Planned for Sony PSP

Sony Corp plans to sell a satellite navigation accessory from February 2008 that turns its handheld PSP games console into a navigation device, the company announced at the Leipzig Games Convention on Wednesday. The PSP equipped with the global positioning (GPS) accessory will compete with dedicated navigation devices such as those made by TomTom and Garmin Ltd.

Dreamworks and Paramount Drops Blu-Ray Chooses HD-DVD

Viacom's Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Animation SKG will release their next-generation DVD titles exclusively on HD DVD instead of Blu-Ray. Paramount had sold titles in both the new high-definition formats - HD DVD and Blu-Ray - but will settle exclusively on HD DVD after deciding that it offered better quality, lower-priced players and lower manufacturing costs, Kelley Avery, president of Paramount Home Entertainment, told Reuters.

It all seems positive for a moment for Sony's Playstation 3. With NPD Group figures showing that 98,500 (up 21%) PS3s were sold in June compared to 198,400 Xbox 360s (up 28%) and 381,800 Wiis (up 13%), the price cut to the 60GB model proved to be a good marketing strategy executed.
