Microsoft Brings Messenger to Xbox Live

The feature will be added for free through an Xbox 360 Dashboard update - due for release on May 7 - and means that, for the first time, Xbox owners will be able to hold instant messaging conversations with those on a PC. The move will greatly broaden the communication prospects of the 6 million Xbox Live users worldwide, as they will be able to chat directly with the 260 million users on Windows Live Messenger.

A Marketing Success For PS3 in Australia

In clear evidence that Sony's $6 million PlayStation 3 marketing campaign is working, Australian gamers ignored the high price tag and lapped up $33 million worth of PS3 hardware and software in the 10 days following its March 23 launch. That translates to 27,083 PS3 units sold, said GfK analyst Daniel Morse, whose figures are based on sales data provided by all of Australia's major retailers.

Mario and Sonic Teaming Up for Olympic 2008!

Two old rivals in the video game business are teaming up. Sega and Nintendo have agreed to pit their two high-profile mascots - Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario the plumber - against each other in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. It's the first time the snarky blue hedgehog and the pudgy Italian plumber have appeared in the same title. The game, to be released in time for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, will include table tennis, swimming and running, among other events.

Sony Ceases Production of PS3 20GB

It's official. Say bye bye to the 20GB version of the PS3. If you have one, keep it. If you don't have one, see if you can get one and sell it as an antique say 50 years later. Sony will stop producing the 20GB as it was obvious that the demand for the 60GB version of PS3 has outpaced the 20GB version for 10 to 1.
