Activision’s high-profile Wii launch game, Call of Duty 3, will not feature the series’ flagship online multiplayer. A 16 player online mode was rumoured but Activision has confirmed that the feature will not be included in the game and that, possibly for the better, the Wii version will focus primarily on expanding and delivering a unique single player experience.

“We wanted to clear up that the Wii version will not have online multiplayer, but is being developed to take advantage of the unique controls and provide an amazing single player interactive experience,” says the publisher.

Although the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature large-scale online multiplayer, Wii owners should not be disappointed as far as first person shooters are concerned since Ubisoft is set to deliver both Far Cry and Red Steel at launch.
