Senior management at Sony have said in a statement to their shareholders in a meeting the upcoming Playstation 3 gaming console would be a massive success.

Sony is aiming to sell 100 million PlayStation 3 machines in the coming years. This comes despite the massive criticism they received on the high price of this gaming console.

They added: “The management has been thinking how we can revitalize the company. In the year to March 2006, we were able to make steady progress at the appropriate speed toward our goals. We will continue this effort … by proactively monitoring our progress.”

Sony Playstation 3 is due to hit the market in November this year and would take on Microsoft Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.
