A 60GB hard disc drive will ship with all Playstation 3 units when the console is released this November, ending speculation that gamers may be forced to purchase a peripheral to perform the PS3’s basic functions to play video games.
Comments made by SCE President Ken Kutaragi at last weeks Playstation Business Brief raised concerns that a HDD may be required to play games on the PS3 and that it would have to be bought separately.
Speaking to Yahoo! Games, a Sony representative has clarified that a 60 GB HDD will come with the Playstation 3 as standard.
The representative said gamers would also have the option to upgrade the hard disc drive, however, no details about the upgrade or price were mentioned.
Meanwhile, there had been rumors that Sony will release the PS3 with either a 60GB or 100GB HDD.
